Welcome back: First day Jitters

It always amazes me after 8 years of classroom teaching how anxious and excited I get for the first day. No matter which environment I’m in a find myself questioning how my classroom looks, am I ready for a new year, and do I belong. As I greet my new students for the new year I see the same questions in their faces, and in their energy. Unsure, putting on a brave face and coming to terms that this is part of the school process. After only 1 hour with my new class, I felt relaxed and confident that we we all navigate this year together. Each student comes with their own unique perspective and story. With 21 of these perspectives we move forward to a new year full of inquiry, wonder, questions, struggles and understanding. I look forward to what this year brings and cannot wait for the surprises and struggles that come with each day.
